Awards Season is officially here! I could not be more excited for fashion, fashion and more fashion. Each year, Awards Season kicks off with the People's Choice Awards. All in all, not my favorite (not even close) awards show but-- still a chance to see all my favorite celebs in some of the most fabulous designers.
I have to say, I was very disappointed in the choices many of my favorite starlets made for their PCA ensembles. As I reviewed the photos this morning, I struggled to find a Best Dressed of the bunch (this almost never happens!)
So, let's just start off with the worst.
Kelly Osbourne. Just because your hair is Grey doesn't mean you need to dress like a Grandmother. I am a huge fan of color blocking but, this Honor dress did nothing for the Fashion Police star except to age her ten-years.
My third-runner-up in the Best Dressed at the PCA's goes to Vanessa Hudgens. If this were based on dress alone, her Jenny Packham Fall 2012 halter gown would have swept this contest. However, her heavy eye makeup and earrings distract from the amazing details of the gown. I would have gone lighter eyes, red lip and a serious arm party.
Second-runner-up goes to Emma Stone. I am obsessed with Emma Stone and her red-carpet style. In my eyes she can do no wrong and her take on menswear last night is no exception. She looked amazing in her fitted green blazer, and her red hair? To die. So, why is she second-runner-up you ask? To me, this ensemble was just a tad under dressed for the PCA's. Emma knows she is the one-to-watch in fashion right now, and she has had a very successful year in the acting world as well. To me, she should have brought out her A-game (no pun intended) to start off awards season with a bang.
First runner-up goes to Whitney Cummings in her amazing green sequin ASOS dress. I know, I know, I love a good sequined dress but, am I brave enough to rock that odd-shade of green entirely covered in sequins? Absolutely not. The black belt and open-toe shoes gave the look exactly what it needed to be polished and pretty. And those gorgeous green eyes with that dress? She killed it!
Finally, Best Dressed at the PCA's goes to Lea Michele. Her Marchesa flapper dress was ah-mazing. The entire look was put together flawlessly. Perfect pink lips, amazing hair and just the right amount of Lorraine Schwartz bling. And can we talk about those shoes? Jimmy Choo sparkles added the extra umph the ensemble needed.
Although the fashion at the PCA's was sub-par, the awards were spot-on. Emma Stone, Johnny Depp, Ellen DeGeneres, Pretty Little Liars, Bridesmaids and Water For Elephants were among the night's winners.
I can't wait to see what else Awards Season will bring in fashion. Golden Globes here we go!
