I recently decided to sign up for Birchbox, the subscription service to monthly lifestyle and beauty samples. A few of my friends belong to the service, and I have seen them get some pretty great loot before! Full size Zoya polishes, great face creams etc. The cost? $100 for a 12 month subscription, or about $8 a month.
I myself, am not a sample girl. I rarely use the plethora of samples received from Sephora with each purchase. My hair products, are always Bumble. My face products are always Arbonne. My eyeliner is always Urban Decay, and my mascara is always Almay. Are you seeing a trend here?
I wasn't sure how valuable product samples would be to me. Would I really purchase one of the products in a box because I actually remembered to use whatever that product was in place of my usual routine? Doubtful.
I received my very first Birchbox in the mail today.
As of this box, I've changed my mind a bit. The box is much smaller in person than it looks advertised. But, good things come in small packages, right?
This Birchbox held the following: Kiehl's Abyssine cream, Caudalie Paris hand and nail cream, Stila sparkle waterproof liquid eye liner, Kerastase Cristalliste, and a sample of Bvlgari perfume.
Here's what I know so far... I will absolutely get good use out of the hand cream-it's perfectly purse sized. The Stila eye liner is full-sized and a gorgeous color so, that will be used up in a month! I doubt if I will ever remember to use the pint size hair or perfume samples. They will probably hit the trash eventually. But, I think the very small Kiehl's eye cream could be a successful travel companion!
The eyeliner alone would be around $15 at Sephora. The box was $8. Seems like a pretty good deal to me!
The jury is still out but, as of now, I'm voting the Birchbox a "do".
Stay tuned for my next Birchbox review...
