This season, one of the hottest accessories lie at the tips of your fingers. Nails are the next colored denim, fringe, neon...you get the point.
I recently found a salon that does the best gel manicure around. The manicure lasts for two weeks, if not more, and always look flawless. The trick? Ask for three coats of color polish. I was a gel non-believer before, as my nails would always chip after one week. Finally, a friend at work suggested the additional coat of paint-- and my life has never been the same. I love to play with my polish now!
Around the office, gel and regular nail art has become one of my favorite fashion topics. The ladies around Marcus Thomas have stepped it up and, in my opinion, are at the front end of this booming trend.
Here are a few of my favorite nail trends this season:
If you're just dipping your toe, or should I say finger, into the trend my suggestion would be to start small. At first, this fun art trend played with my OCD a tiny bit and a minor switch up was a good way to ease myself in to nail fun!
The one discolored nail is wildly popular in Hollywood, and Cleveland, and so easy to do even if you aren't big on spending your dime at a salon.
I suggest starting with one nail, a similar color to the rest.
Then, you can get a little crazy and go for an out there noticeable nail!
Patterns are also huge. From Polka Dots to Stars and Stripes, patterned nails give texture to any ensemble.
For me, I love a good animal print nail (I'm sure you already knew that, though!) It's like adding a pop of pattern to your outfit with out even having to accessorize!
You can never have enough leopard.
Ombre. Ombre might be my favorite overall trend. I love it in hair, in food, in clothing and especially on your nails! The gradual color change is gorgeous. You might as well be carrying around a Monet!
Matte. Matte is a trend I have yet to try but, I do think it's very chic. For me, I love the shine a great top coat gives so, I can't imagine forfeiting that. However, with the right color and nail length I think matte is a must-try this Summer.
Halos. I am a huge fan of the halo nail trend but, only with the absolute right color scheme. In my opinion, you must outline in a neon and keep the overall color a neutral. To be honest, two brights in this combination make you look like a five cent hooker, or a five-year-old, which ever you prefer.
Half Moons are possibly the most popular trend in nail art right now. This for me, is a salon only manicure. I know, I know Pinterest has a million ideas on ways to do this yourself but really, any manicure that involves office supplies to complete--not worth it. Pay the $25 bucks and get an arm massage while you're at it. Thank me later.
Decals. Decals could technically fall under all other trend categories as the market is flooded with them as of late. You can find nail decals in almost every color or pattern imaginable! This is the easiest nail trend out there right now. Just stick them on, file them down, and you're good to go. Ready for a change? They come off easy with regular nail polish remover. Blogger Tip: Use clear coat over your sticker, it will make them last longer!
Leopards and Zebras and Neons, oh my!
Whatever your manicure choice this Summer, the key is to switch it up and have fun! Oh, and don't forget about those tootsies!
