The Emmys. Just as I begin to cover up in sweaters and boots, mittens and scarves, the celebrities take it all off in skin tight gowns for a night of celebrating the best in T.V. Overall, the Emmys are not my favorite for award's show fashion but, still a fun fashion scene for reviewing none-the-less.
The fashion at last night's Emmys was on-point. The women and men of T.V. sure know how to dress! No crazy, Helena Bonham Carter here! Just gorgeous Hollywood fashion all around.
First, let's talk trends. My favorites: deep reds for Fall, goregous earring statements and flowing hair from the ladies. No super structured up-dos here! My least favorites: long sleeves, sequins galore and waterfall dresses.
The wrong way to do a long sleeve. Julianne, are you 80? Yes, the color is gorgeous but it is not sexy enough to make this look any less like a pilgrim's traditional garb. And yes, I do feel horrible defaming Christian Dior Couture.
My bests of the night were easy to pick. They immediately rose to the top and interestingly enough, were not my usual suspects!
Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The color is gorgeous, the fit is perfect and the rest of her ensemble is flawless. She looks ah-mazing in Vera Wang.
Hayden Panettiere. I die over this Marchesa frock. She looks absolutely gorgeous! Plus, you know I can't resist a good sock bun.
Kat Dennings. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! The makeup, the hair, the dress, the jewels and even the polish is perfect. She is insane in this J Mendel dress. And, how cute is her headband? Dying.
Claire Danes. A pregnant and glowing vision in Lanvin. The color is to-die, her makeup, hair and accessories are perfect. Oh, and that man on her arm isn't too bad either.
My worsts were even easier to pick. As they usually are...
Christina Hendricks. I love, love, love this woman. I think she is absolutely flawless and her curves make her one of my favorite actresses of all time. Plus, Joan will forever be my favorite Mad Med character. But, and this is a huge but, her Christian Siriano ensemble is awful. The cut is a great look for her, it would hug her in all the right places but, the belt looks like it's holding up her boobs, not accentuating her waist! And not to mention, the dress just does not fit! She is pouring out of it and her boobage (boob cleavage if you don't recognize the term) is out of control.
Michelle Dockery. This dress does not fit! At all. It makes her boobs look saggy, and worse? It's totally wrinkled! Her stylist is probably crying over this one--I know I would be! Again, I am probably going to hell for defaming the great Louis Vuitton on the red carpet...
Ashley Judd. Finally a worst-dress gown that actually fits! Too bad it's disgusting! She looks like a 1950's prom attendee with her awful hair and Peptobismol pink Carolina Herrera. And that broach? Disgusting.
All in all, it was a great night for both fashion and T.V. but, at the end of the day, there can only be one best dressed. Ladies and gents, this year my best dressed at the 2012 Emmys is...
Who is your best dressed this year?
