For those of you who are close to me, you know, I love to paint my nails. I paint them at least twice a week and always have the color on hand for unexpected chips. My biggest OCD in life, is a chipped mani.
So, when my roommate suggested we save money and put our funds together to purchase a gel nail kit, I was in!
After a bit of research on Vogue, I found out that the Red Carpet Manicure is the best rated, reasonably priced, at-home gel set. A 20% off Ulta coupon, and three-days ground shipping later, I had kit-in-hand ready to gel.
The process is pretty quick and painless and the directions provided are extremely self-explanatory. Overall, I would say anyone can do this successfully. My nails lasted about 1.5 weeks and remained shiny throughout!
My blogger tip: Make sure to invest in multiple wood sticks. It's so easy to get the gel on your skin and that can mess up your entire mani! Use the stick around your cuticle to ensure the gel is only on your nail.
Downfalls to home-gelling? No hand massages, removing cuticles on your own and our first polish color was a bit watery (we had to use three coats).
Overall if you are in the market to save cash, and feel the way I do about a well-painted nail, I highly recommend.
And if you're still not sure, I am always ready for a mani party! Come on over!
