Chicago. One of my favorite cities in the entire World, is now the home of one of my favorite Clevelanders. I finally made it up for a visit to see her new digs, new life and new fabulous city and of course--it was a visit of epic proportions.
My girlfriends and I made a special trip to Chi-Town for the Jay Z and Justin Timberlake concert, and oh what a concert it was! But, before I skip to the best part, let's talk Girls Weekend 2013.
The weekend began very early morning with a road trip. The three of us piled into the Volvo, yoga mats in tow, and headed off to the city. 5 hours later, we were in a fabulous apartment in River North changing into our bathing suits to take in the gorgeous sunshine on the beach. Lots of girl talk, lots of snacking and no swimming in the zero degree water.
The plan was to hit up an afternoon yoga class post-beach but- instead- we hit up champs and pedicures. After we were sufficiently primped and liquored up, we headed for rooftop drinks (that got rained out) and then a very inappropriate, but delicious none-the-less dinner. So inappropriate that we considered leaving, but, couldn't because someone (Dos as I like to refer to him)--drank the fancy water. You can dress us up, but you can't take us out!
The next morning it was up early for a touchy-feeling yoga session that nearly killed me (if you know me, you know I am not in to "smiling with my heart" nor do I want to be touched and pushed in to compromising yoga positions called "happy baby" which is really just "spread eagle" in a non-sexual connotation.) So, in my opinion I was owed a brunch to recover from this molestation and of course-- our lovely host obliged with the most beautiful brunch (she is her mother's daughter after all!)
We then spent the day partaking in a little retail therapy, and more rooftop drinks (this time gorgeous weather!) Before we knew it, it was time to get ready for the concert so, after more drinks and munchies--it was off to Soldier Field.
The show was ah-mazing. The set list was incredible. The men were en fuego! I can honestly say hand-to-God (Melissa Gorga style-- of course) that this was the best concert I have ever attended both in part to my great company, and Justin/Jay Z! I sang my heart out to the classics, and of course my favorite new jams like "Tom Ford" and "Mirrors."
Clearly excited for the concert with Confessions of a CLE Habitant. My Mel and I. Our lovely host and my pseudo-mom, and the girls!
After the show, we took a painful stroll to attempt to hail a cab but, it didn't matter because I was on a high from its amazing-ness. One Uber later, we were snug as a bug in a rug at our lovely weekend River North home.
The following day was a sad one, as I said goodbye to the city and my friends. But, I know that they are all just one text away--and trust me when I say, it's an inappropriate one.
